- California Anti-Gun Zealot … by Glenn At New…
State Sen. Rod Wright submitted his resignation Monday after he was sentenced last week to three months in jail for lying about where he lived when he ran for office.
Senate President Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg accepted Wright’s one-sentence letter, which stated his resignation is effective Sept. 22. Jennifer Hanson, a spokeswoman for Wright, confirmed the senator submitted the letter.
To replace Wright, Gov. Jerry Brown has 14 days from the time the vacancy begins to call for a special election. Steinberg’s office said the primary is likely to be in December with a runoff in February.
Wright, a Democrat from Los Angeles County, was convicted of perjury in January for lying about his residence and later was suspended with pay from the Senate. Wright’s was the first of three unrelated cases against Democratic lawmakers who were suspended and cost the party its supermajority in the Senate.

- Angry Ukrainian Mob Throws … by Glenn At New…
A mob vents its fury against a member of Ukraine’s parliament after a vote granted an amnesty to pro-Russia rebels.
An angry crowd has thrown a Ukrainian MP into a skip outside the country’s parliament in Kiev.
A group of men were filmed shoving Vitaly Zhuravsky before grabbing him and dumping him head first into the bin filled with festering rubbish.
As he tried to clamber out, the MP – still gripping his briefcase – was held down by his head as members of the screaming and swearing mob tossed a tyre on top of him.
Before Mr Zhuravsky could free himself, liquid from what looked like a drink can was poured over his head and a woman was heard shouting in Russian: “Boys, let me kick him at least one time.”
Once a member of ousted President Viktor Yanukovych’s Party of the Regions, the MP risked unpopularity in January when he authored a bill severely tightening restrictions on anti-government protesters.
Previously, he was behind a controversial bill criminalising libel, which was withdrawn amid widespread opposition.
The incident came after the Ukrainian parliament voted to ratify a major EU-Ukraine association agreement.
- Obama administration forcin… by Glenn At New…
The Obama administration quietly has been forcing new gun buyers to declare their race and ethnicity, a policy change that critics say provides little law enforcement value while creating the risk of privacy intrusions and racial profiling.
With little fanfare, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) in 2012 amended its Form 4473 — the transactional record the government requires gun purchasers and sellers to fill out when buying a firearm — to identify buyers as either Hispanic, Latino or not. Then a buyer must check his or her race: Indian, Asian, black, Pacific Islander or white.
The amendment is causing a headache for gun retailers, as each box needs to be checked off or else it’s an ATF violation — severe enough for the government to shut a business down. Many times people skip over the Hispanic/Latino box and only check their race, or vice versa — both of which are federal errors that can be held against the dealer.

- ISIS supporters urged to at… by Glenn At New…
Supporters of the Islamic State terror group are being urged to attack Times Square and other popular American tourist attractions with easily assembled homemade bombs, according to a disturbing report Tuesday.
A message posted on an ISIS Web forum lists widely available ingredients needed to build a pipe bomb, and includes photos showing how to combine them into a deadly explosive device, Vocativ reported.
The Arabic-language message cites Times Square — the scene of a failed car-bomb attack in 2010 by al Qaeda sympathizer Faisal Shahzad — and the Las Vegas Strip as prime targets, but also suggests striking sites in Texas and mass-transit stations across the country.
The message is titled “To the Lone Wolves in America: How to Make a Bomb in Your Kitchen, to Create Scenes of Horror in Tourist Spots and Other Targets,” and was written three weeks ago.
- NY Muslim Convicted of Tryi… by Glenn At New…
A Rochester, New York, man has been indicted on charges of trying to provide material support to the Islamic State militant group and attempting to murder U.S. soldiers, the U.S. Justice Department said on Tuesday.
A federal grand jury in Rochester handed down a seven-count indictment against Mufid Elfgeeh, 30, following an investigation by the FBI’s Rochester Joint Terrorism Task Force, a Justice Department statement said.
According to court records, Elfgeeh, beginning last year, tried to help three people – two of whom were cooperating with the FBI – to travel to Syria to fight for Islamic State, a Sunni militant group that has seized large areas of Iraq and Syria.
“Elfgeeh also plotted to shoot and kill members of the United States military who had returned from Iraq,” authorities said. “As part of the plan to kill soldiers, Elfgeeh purchased two handguns equipped with firearm silencers and ammunition from a confidential source.”
The FBI made the guns inoperable before the confidential source gave them to the suspect, the Justice Department statement said, adding Elfgeeh was in custody.
- Armored Vehicle, Grenade La… by Glenn At New…
Los Angeles Unified School District police officials are considering whether they need the armored vehicle and grenade launchers they received from the U.S. military.
The military hardware at the disposal of LAUSD police officers includes a 20-foot-long, 14-ton armored transport vehicles, much like the ones used to move Marines in Iraq combat zones. The armored vehicle is worth $733,000, and the school district’s police force got it from the government for free.
How would LAUSD use such a vehicle?
“For us? That vehicle would be used for extraordinary circumstances,” LAUSD police Chief Steve Zipperman said.
The armored vehicle, which is stored at a secret location, has been in the department’s possession since July.
“It’s something that we believe is a life-saving vehicle,” Zipperman said. “And certainly we realize we need to take a look, is this the best alternative right now for us until we find something else that is more conducive to a police-type of rescue.”
- NJ Veteran thrown out of Su… by Glenn At New…
A disabled veteran was thrown out of a fast food restaurant because of his service dog.
The incident itself is troubling enough, but you won’t believe what happened after the Eyewitness News investigators arrived at the restaurant to demand answers.
It’s one of the most bizarre exchanges Eyewitness News has ever had on a story. Federal law is very clear: Dogs are recognized as service animals and all businesses open to the public, including restaurants, must allow them in.
But a U.S. Army veteran says a Subway restaurant in Paterson, New Jersey, blatantly ignored the law, and now, he’s determined to send them a message in court.
Richard Hunter’s troubled life turned around in July when the U.S. Army veteran received a service dog from the non-profit group Dogs4Warriors. The 50-year-old suffers from severe Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
“He realizes I’m having anxiety before I do,” Richard Hunter said.
So, it was a big deal when Hunter finally took his son and a coworker to lunch a few weeks ago at a Subway restaurant in Paterson, New Jersey.
“This was huge to go out with my son for the first time in over ten years,” Hunter said.
The sign on the door seemingly said it all: “Service animals are welcome,” but Hunter claims the manager, later identified as Mitul Ahmed, said something very different.
“I may have been holding the door when he first said something. He said, ‘The dog is not allowed in here. Get the dog out of here,'” Hunter said.
“He was clearly identified as a service animal,” Eyewitness News Investigative Reporter Sarah Wallace said.
“He was wearing what he has on right now,” Hunter said. “I said he was a service animal.”
“He didn’t care,” Wallace said.
“That’s exactly what he said, ‘I don’t care,'” Hunter said.
- Texas state trooper asked t… by Glenn At New…
A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper said he was asked to leave a Grapevine Waffle House last week because he was carrying a gun, but the restaurant said it was all just a big misunderstanding.
When Jeff Evans walked into the Waffle House Tuesday morning, he was not dressed in a full uniform but rather a field uniform consisting of a polo shirt and tan pants. Evans also had his duty weapon on his hip and his badge on his belt, but according to a report by a local CBS affiliate, the restaurant’s manager only saw the gun, not the badge, and asked Evans to leave.
Evans complied, but later took to Facebook to voice his frustration over the ordeal.
